Today, we celebrate the authors whose works have changed our lives. I know for me that is an extremely long list. I began reading books when I was young and I lost myself in them. I’ve trudged through Middle Earth, danced around the Narnia lamppost, flew over Roshar, took the flume to Zadaa, fought at Camp Half-Blood, took classes at Hogwarts, danced with Darcy, stole with Dodger, disguised myself with Viola, and so so many more.
A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies… The man who never reads lives only one.”
George R.R. Martin
I cannot remember the books I’ve read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
In honor of so many of the great authors out there, each Monday of this month, I will highlight a different author who has impacted my life.
Who are your favorite authors? Who has impacted you? Who do you honor today?
For me, I’d say Jonathan Rand had a huge impact on me. He writes the Michigan Chillers and American Chillers books, which are scary/mystery books meant for kids. He came to my elementary school and from that point on, I started reading fiction. So every fiction author since then that I have read, I may never have encountered if not for Mr. Rand.
